The Rhythm of Motion

June 6, 2006 – 15:45

I can’t wait for tomorrow!! Whee!

Yet another “first” happened to me yesterday. I got an e-mail … from The White House!!!

Yeah, I couldn’t believe it either at first. But it’s true. Granted, it didn’t say much … well, here. I’ll paste it for you …

On behalf of President Bush, thank you for your correspondence.
We appreciate hearing your views and welcome your suggestions.
Due to the large volume of e-mail received, the White House is
unable to respond to every message, and therefore this response
is an autoreply.

Thank you again for taking the time to write.

Talk about mixed message … I got the feeling that this note not only puts you into your place within the big bushy scheme of things, but it’s supposed to be an honour to be recognized for a comment. Actually, it took me a few minutes to try and recall what they were talking about. I don’t remember actually writing to the White House, of all places. Then it occurred to me that I had signed a petition a little while ago in regards to some environmental travesty. (Actually, I’ve signed quite a few of those lately …)

So! On to other news!

I quit my job with the Census office. I just couldn’t get past the “repugnant” aspect. That and I was sick of trying for a business casual look with an extremely limited business casual wardrobe. I’ve been working in the barns for over a year now, people … that’s not exactly wardrobe friendly. Especially when I lost enough weight that what I did have looks ridiculous on me.

I’m just not ready to rejoin the call center “pool” … that’s all. Too many fish in there already. And they are hiring more!

I’ve been getting some exercises into my routine too. It’s unfortunate that I’m starting with a 100 lb mini dumb bell, but I get by with it. I’ve got a fudge up routine going and I’m already improving in numbers in a couple of areas. Today, I added the crunchies. In a fit of inspiration, I put my calves up on Jade’s weight bench, instead of just bringing my knees up. It worked very well. Spot worked out with me too. While I lay on my back for my crunchies, Spot lay on his back too, right beside me. He didn’t get any crunchies in for himself, but the moral support was well thought of. He was just so KAWAII!!

(That means ‘cute’, y’all.)

I got a decent start on my chapter and the ball is rolling to finishing the story off. I’m not sure that I like what I’ve done, but it can always be spruced up a bit. We’ll see. It’s the start that matters.

I got an early start at my client’s today. If I’m not going to work downtown any more, then I have time to bust my butt with yard work. It was so nice and quiet too. I love working in the mornings. I don’t always like waking up for them, but early mornings are very peaceful for me. They always have been.

**basks in the personal joy of that peaceful morning feeling**

My plants are starting to bud and bloom. My yard always seems to be one of the last to do so, but it just makes things look nicer when my plants are still blooming and everybody else’s are done. One of the peonies is so blossom heavy that I had to cut some off to help it stand up! They are on my table now … hope I got all the ants off!

I’m going to take a moment or two … okay, I’m going to take an hour to write this aptitude test now. Can’t hurt, right? And if they ask for money after, I can tell them to go away, right? Right?

**sigh**

19:30

Okay, I still haven’t done the test yet … I keep getting distracted by other things … like cleaning, organizing and making dinner. Then I was picking up some comics from their “hiding” place … and, of course, I had to read one … eh heh.

I’ll do the test after supper. I promise. Besides, now that my desk is a bit tidied up, it’s STARING at me! I must complete it to make it stop!!

I’m off and away!

Talk at you tomorrow!

Sweet Dreams!!!

Lynne thought this was silly … she says I’m not a Porshe. She thinks I’m a VW. I think I’m insulted. I think.

What was the word that Brooks once used to describe how he felt coming in to work? Oh, yeah. Repugnant. Well, that’s how I feel about working in the census office. It’s kind of odd though, because I can’t pinpoint exactly what it is that makes me feel that way. The people are nice enough and I’ve managed to make some acquaintances. I don’t mind repeating myself over and over to the respondents, and I can laugh off the rude ones. Maybe it’s working in an office again … looking at the gorgeous weather outside and knowing that it will be almost over by the time I get home and out in it. And that the bad weather seems to know my schedule and shows up to visit on my days off. Which is very kind of it, but I need a little bit of time away from it now and then.

It’s enough to drive a girl batty.

Anyway, I’m seriously thinking about quitting it. The money I’ve earned so far will carry me the couple of weeks left until thoroughbreds comes in, and I’m amking good money working for my clients in their yard. Very good money. In fact, one of my clients asked me to consider making the yard work thing a full time personal business. And I would be promised all of his. Well, it’s a good thought. If I can’thandle the stress of working 7 days a week again (it’ll be a big adjustment after being off for two months) then it’ll be something to consider and fall back on. I could work all spring/summer/fall and take winters off … with maybe a snow shoveling service.

It could happen.

I’m also really trying to focus on my writing. I’ve ordered a book to teach me how to get my stuff published and I’m trying to get the guts to do this aptitude test for children’s stories. I’m all for seeing what I’m capable of, but I just know there’s going to be money involved further in … and it won’t be them giving it to me.

I’ll really miss the horses though.

Another option open to me is to go work at a farm. We’ll see what’s involved with that. I’m not so sure that it’ll be any kind of improvement over the track … except that I’d lose the ‘disposable groom’ title.

I’ve been given a boot by a fan to get my story worked on. (Waves to Luna Rosae) It was nice to be remembered so I’ve been working on the outline of where I want things to go. Outlines are rare for me, but the story is coming to an end and I want to make sure that I have tied up all the ends. I also really want to work some more on my D&D based original story. I have a nice start and I’m really liking the feel of it. I’ll have to work on some background chapters though as it was originally written for the Dungeon Master for extra experience credit. That’s no problem. Pity though, that I don’t have enough info on the characters my character was working with to use them too. I’ll have to get permission to use them anyway.

I’m testing out one of the new beer glasses we bought from IKEA. It’s very nice. Very tall. Feels very sophisticated somehow. I think I like it.

Will somebody please tell me how to put a new DL’d font onto my computer for usage? I keep trying and it’s not working!

Grrrrr …

Four days to go! I’m starting to fidget with wonder …

And I can’t wait for San Diego! Wheee! I have to bring back presents for my bosses at the barns … but nobody else has made any requests, so NOTHING FOR THE REST OF YOU!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Ahem.

We’ll see. Depends o how much money I manage to make in the meantime. So I guess I really should buckle down, grit my teeth and just sound pleasant on the phone with the Census people. Even if it’s only for another week … we’ll see.

Sweet Dreams!!

PS. I took the car quiz one more time and changed a couple of answers to see what would happen ... this is what I got:

LOL!!!

I'm a Lamborghini Murcielago!

You're not subtle, but you don't want to be. Fast, loud, and dramatic, you want people to notice you, and then get out of the way. In a world full of sheep, you're a raging bull.

By the way, there are no VW's on the list. I looked. *snort*
